The Sonny Hill Community Involvement League:

The Sonny Hill Community Involvement League is the premier amateur summer basketball organization in the Delaware Valley. We are a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We are dedicated to using sports and education to develop leadership skills and build self-esteem in the student athletes throughout the Delaware Valley.

League History:

Founded by basketball impresario Sonny Hill in 1968, the league was established as a safe haven to the gang warfare and violence that plagued the city of brotherly love. The Sonny Hill Community Involvement League provided a safe environment for youth to showcase and hone their athletic skills. The league began as an extension of the Charles Baker Memorial League (founded in 1960), the nation's oldest professional summer basketball league. During our inaugural season, the League consisted of only five basketball teams.
